Traditionally, they symbolised prosperity, good luck, and the couple’s first task completed together (which feels slightly dramatic for cutting dessert, but here we are). But these days? Couples are rethinking the whole thing. Some still love the tradition of a classic cake cut. Others realise halfway through planning that not everyone actually eats cake… and suddenly spending thousands on three tiers starts raising some valid questions.
