To put it simply… we love weddings!
Let’s chat about yours.

Say Hello
One of the easiest mistakes to make with reception One of the easiest mistakes to make with reception styling is choosing every detail in isolation.

You find a centrepiece you love. Then beautiful candles. Then menus. Then perhaps a little favour for each guest.

Individually, perfect.

Together? That’s where things can get interesting.

When we design reception tables, scale and space matter just as much as colour, flowers or stationery. A low arrangement can leave room for conversation. A narrow candle gives the table height without taking over. A simple place setting might give a more detailed floral arrangement room to breathe.

You don’t need every element on the table to be the star.

Usually, the best tables work because someone decided which elements shouldn’t be.

Nobody has ever looked at a photo of a mountaintop Nobody has ever looked at a photo of a mountaintop elopement and thought…

“Ooh, I wonder what paperwork they had to fill out.”

But if you’re travelling from overseas to get married in New Zealand, you’re going to have to think about it eventually.

The good news is that it’s nowhere near as complicated as it sounds.

Your marriage licence can be applied for online before you arrive. You’ll need a registered celebrant and two witnesses. Your celebrant takes care of the paperwork after the ceremony. And yes, there are a couple of extra things to know if you’re planning to marry somewhere remote.

We’ve explained the whole process for How to Legally Get Married in New Zealand as an Overseas Couple in our latest Queenstown Wedding Packages guide.

Paperwork first. Mountain next 🤍 🌄

Not Cinderella’s slipper.... Although we are about Not Cinderella’s slipper.... Although we are about to find out quite a lot about the person it belongs to.

The Shoe Game has been around for a while, and we can see why. It’s easy, everyone can join in from their seats, and the entertainment value increases considerably when the bride and groom give completely different answers.

Which got us thinking… what are you planning for your reception?

A lot of thought goes into the ceremony, food, speeches and music, but those little moments of entertainment can give guests something to join in with rather than simply watch.

The shoe game? A quiz? Lawn games? Something completely unexpected?

Or are you firmly in the “give them good food and a dance floor and they’ll entertain themselves” camp?

Planning a destination wedding in Queenstown often Planning a destination wedding in Queenstown often starts with the fun stuff. Venues saved on Instagram, photographers you love, screenshots of flowers, perhaps a slightly alarming number of open browser tabs.

But before you book anything, there are a few Queenstown-specific things worth knowing.

👉🏼Peak-season suppliers can book 12 to 18 months ahead.
👉🏼Your venue choice can affect everything from guest transport to your wet-weather plan.
👉🏼A winter wedding doesn’t necessarily mean snow at ground level.
👉🏼And if everyone is travelling to be here, it’s worth thinking beyond the wedding itself to accommodation, welcome drinks, recovery brunches and how your guests will actually get around.

We’ve put together a proper guide to planning a destination wedding in Queenstown, including budgets, venues, seasons, suppliers, guest logistics and a few things we’ve learned from doing this for a living.

If Queenstown is currently sitting somewhere in your wedding plans, this is a good place to start.

One timeline detail we wish couples thought about One timeline detail we wish couples thought about earlier is.... what their guests will be doing while they’re away taking photos.

If you’re planning on disappearing for an hour after the ceremony, look at that hour from your guests’ perspective.

Have drinks ready rather than making everyone queue at the bar. Start canapés early enough that hungry guests aren’t clock-watching. Give older guests somewhere to sit. Think about shade in summer and warmth when the temperature drops. And allow enough time for people to actually enjoy themselves before moving them into dinner.

None of these things will be the reason someone books a flight to Queenstown for your wedding.

They might, however, be the reason everyone talks about what a bloody good wedding it was afterwards. 🤍

It’s easy to think every wedding here would feel t It’s easy to think every wedding here would feel the same.

The same lake.
The same mountains.
The same stretch of grass.

But they never do.

Every ceremony arrives with a different energy.

Different people.
Different stories.
Different reasons for standing where they are.

The landscape stays wonderfully familiar.
But everything else is entirely new. 🤍
